 What are Language Exchanges?:

They are an opportunity for you to use a language you are learning, share a language that you speak with others and meet people with different cultures and languages. When you arrive at a language exchange evening you will be asked about which language(s) you already speak and which you are learning. Then you will be guided to a table flagged with the name of the language you want. On the table you will normally find a volunteer or volunteers who will facilitate the discussion. You can change table when you want. Drinks and nibbles are available (NB you should be over 18)

The Language Exchange events are organised by student volunteers (many of them international students). It is co-ordinated by Hallam Volunteering at Sheffield Hallam University Union of Students along with the Multilingual City Forum. Exchanges take place normally on the 1st Tuesday of each month from November to May (excluding January).

Mencap are running a trek to Patagonia in 2008. Wales and Patagonia share a unique relationship and hopefully Trek Patagonia will be of great interest to the Welsh Community. It will be a special adventure, with stunning landscapes and majestic mountains, and all in the company of our tour leader and ornithologist Iolo Williams, who is a TV presenter for BBC Wales! Following the trek there will be a visit to the Welsh speaking community in Gaiman, and finally a trip to see the southern right whales at the Peninsula Valdes.
